Church Instruments
Whereas the Clergy Discipline Measure received the Royal Assent on the tenth day of July 2003
And Whereas by section 48(2) of the said Measure it is provided that the said Measure shall come into force on such date as the Archbishops of Canterbury and York may jointly appoint and that different dates may be appointed for different provisions
And Whereas by an instrument dated the eighteenth day of September 2003 under my hand and that of the Most Reverend David Michael Hope formerly Archbishop of York we did jointly appoint that certain provisions of the said Measure should come into force on the first day of October 2003 but no other provisions of the said Measure have yet been brought into force
And Whereas the See of York has been vacant since the twenty–eighth day of February 2005 by reason of the resignation of the said David Michael Hope
Now therefore I ROWAN DOUGLAS by Divine Providence Archbishop of Canterbury do hereby appoint that the following provisions of the said Measure shall come into force on the 1st day of June 2005:
