3. In regulation 2 (interpretation)—
(a)in paragraph (1), after the definition of “public procession”, insert—
““registered political party” has the meaning given in section 202(1) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(1),”,
(b)after paragraph (2), insert—
“(3) For the purpose of these Regulations, activities are undertaken for election purposes if they are undertaken—
(a)for the purposes of or in connection with—
(i)promoting or procuring electoral success for a registered political party, or
(ii)promoting or procuring a candidate’s election, or
(b)otherwise with a view to influencing how electors vote in an election.”.
1983 c.2. The definition of “registered political party” was inserted by paragraph 38(3) of schedule 3 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (c.29), and amended by paragraph 6(8) of schedule 21 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (c.41).
