The Air Quality (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2016

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Air Quality (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2016 and come into force on 1st April 2016.

Amendment of the Air Quality (Scotland) Regulations 2000

2.—(1) The Air Quality (Scotland) Regulations 2000(1) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 3(1) (relevant periods), for “paragraph (2)” substitute “paragraphs (2) and (3)”.

(3) After regulation 3(2), insert—

(3) The relevant period for the purposes of Part IV of the 1995 Act in relation to the air quality objective specified in entry number 7A of the Table in the Schedule (relating to PM2.5) is the period beginning on 1st April 2016 and ending on 31st December 2020..

(4) In the Table in the Schedule (air quality objective table), after entry number 7 relating to Nitrogen dioxide, insert—

7APM2.510 micrograms per cubic metre or less, when expressed as an annual mean31st December 2020

(5) In the Schedule, after paragraph 1 (definition of PM10), insert—

1A.  “PM2.5” means particulate matter which passes through a size-selective inlet with a 50% efficiency cut-off at 2.5μm aerodynamic diameter..
