The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 47 of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Act 2008(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Act 2008 (Duration of Urgent Traffic Regulation Measures) Order 2014 and comes into force on 2nd June 2014.

(2) In this Order—

“the 2008 Act” means the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Act 2008; and

“Games Traffic Regulation Notice” means a notice issued under section 39(1) of the 2008 Act (urgent traffic regulation measures).

Modification of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

2.  For the purposes of section 39(2) of the 2008 Act, section 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(3) (duration of orders) applies to a Games Traffic Regulation Notice as if—

(a)for subsection (7) there were substituted—

(7) A notice under section 14 of this Act shall not continue in force for more than 21 days from the date of the notice.; and

(b)for subsection (8)(b)(ii) there were substituted—

(ii)by one (but not more than one) further notice under that section..

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order modifies section 15 (duration of orders and notices) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as it applies to traffic regulation notices issued under section 39 (urgent traffic regulation measures) of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Act 2008 (“the 2008 Act”).

Article 2(a) modifies section 15(7) to provide that notices issued under section 39 of the 2008 Act have a maximum duration of 21 days.

Article 2(b) modifies section 15(8)(b)(ii) to provide that such a notice may be continued by one (but not more than one) further notice.

No business and regulatory impact assessment has been prepared for this Order as no impact upon business, charities or voluntary bodies is foreseen
