in paragraph (1)–

i

for “This”, substitute “Subject to paragraph (1A), this”; and

ii

for “a retained or volunteer member of a brigade”, substitute “employed by a fire and rescue authority as a retained firefighter or who was a volunteer firefighter”;

after paragraph (1), insert–

Paragraph (1) does not apply where the person was also employed by the authority as a regular firefighter.
