The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21(7F) of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 8th November 2002.
2. In regulation 2(1A) (interpretation) of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (Scotland) Regulations 2000(2), at the end there shall be inserted–
“, a badge issued under a provision of the law of Northern Ireland corresponding to that section or a badge issued by any member State other than the United Kingdom for purposes corresponding to the purposes for which badges under that section are issued”.

These Regulations amend the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (Scotland) Regulations 2000.
Regulation 2 has the effect of enabling disabled person’s badges issued in Northern Ireland or any member State to be displayed as if they were badges issued by a local authority in Scotland.
1970 c. 44; section 21(7F) was inserted by section 73 of the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 (asp 2).
