The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 22(1)(h), 22A(2)(a) and 22A(3)(d) of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994[1] and by virtue of the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988[2], hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall come into force on 30th September 2005. Increase in fee 2. In paragraph 7(1) of Schedule 3 to the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002[3] for "£35" there shall be substituted "£36". Signed by authority of the Secretary of State S J Ladyman Minister of State Department for Transport 20th August 2005 (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002 ("the 2002 Regulations"). Regulation 15 of, and Schedule 3 to, the 2002 Regulations provide that where an insurer has informed the Secretary of State that a vehicle is uneconomical to repair or the registration document has been surrendered to the Secretary of State under regulation 20(5) of those Regulations, the vehicle must undergo an examination to confirm it is the registered vehicle, before a new registration document is issued. The examination is known as a "Vehicle Identity Check". Regulation 2 increases the fee for a Vehicle Identity Check, or for a further Vehicle Identity Check on appeal, by 2.86% from £35 to £36.
