The Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2002

  Coming into force 20th August 2002 

The Secretary of State, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, acting in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section, makes the following Regulations:

Title and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 20th August 2002.

Amendment to the Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) Regulations 2002
    
2. In Schedule 2 to the Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) Regulations 2002[3] (import conditions), for the entry contained in Section C of Part I (protective measures - all products) there shall be substituted the following entry - 

    " China
    Commission Decision 2002/69/EC (OJ No. L30, 31.1.2002, p.50) as amended by Commission Decision 2002/441/EC (OJ No. L151, 11.6.2002, p.16) and Commission Decision 2002/573/EC (OJ No. L181, 11.7.2002, p.21).".

Revocation of the Food and Animal Feedingstuffs (Products of Animal Origin from China) (Emergency Control) (England) Regulations 2002
     3. The Food and Animal Feedingstuffs (Products of Animal Origin from China) (Emergency Control) (England) Regulations 2002[4] are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


    
1. These Regulations update the reference to Commission Decision 2002/69/EC concerning certain protective measures with regard to the products of animal origin imported from China (OJ No. L30, 31.1.2002, p. 50) in Section C of Part I of Schedule 2 to the Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/1227), by including in that reference references to the two Decisions which amend Decision 2002/69/EC, namely Commission Decision 2002/441/EC (OJ No, L151, 11.6.2002, p. 16) and Commission Decision 2002/573/EC (OJ No. L181, 11.7.2002, p.21).

    
2. These Regulations also revoke the Food and Animal Feedingstuffs (Products of Animal Origin from China) (Emergency Control) (England) Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/1614) which previously implemented Commission Decision 2002/69/EC as amended by Commission Decision 2002/441/EC.

    
3. No regulatory impact assessment has been prepared in relation to these Regulations.
