Whereas an application for the purpose of amending the Withernsea and Southern Holderness Rural Achievement Education Action Zone Order 1999 has been made to the Secretary of State with the consent of the governing bodies of every participating school in the Zone: Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 10(1) and 11 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998[1], hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Withernsea and Southern Holderness Rural Achievement Education Action Zone (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 15th January 2001. Amendment of the Withernsea and Southern Holderness Rural Achievement Education Action Zone Order 1999 2. - (1) The Withernsea and Southern Holderness Rural Achievement Education Action Zone Order 1999[2] shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3) of this article. (2) For article 5 there shall be substituted the following article -
(b) up to three persons who appear to the Forum to represent the interests of the community in the area served by the zone schools; (c) one person nominated by the Education Joint Consultative Committee of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, or by any successor body; (d) one person who appears to the Forum to represent the interests of support staff in the zone schools; and (e) up to four persons who appear to the Forum to represent the interests of teachers or organisations of teachers or both."
(3) There shall be inserted after article 9 the following article -
9A. A member of the Forum may be removed from office by the Forum in the following circumstances -
(b) in the case of any member appointed either pursuant to paragraph (a) of article 4 or, in the case of the Hedon Nursery school, paragraph (c), if any of the schools referred to in those paragraphs are discontinued; (c) in the case of a member appointed pursuant to paragraph (c) of article 4 (save for the member appointed by the headteacher of Hedon Nursery school), or paragraph (c) of article 5, if the body in question is dissolved or otherwise ceases to exist; and (d) in the case of a member appointed pursuant to paragraphs (a), (b), (d) or (e) of Article 5, if that person no longer appears to the Forum to represent the interests of either business, the community in the area served by the zone schools, the support staff in the zone schools, or teachers or organisation of teachers, as the case may be."
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Withernsea and Southern Holderness Rural Achievement Education Action Zone Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/3400). It amends article 5 of that order which provides for additional members to be appointed to the Education Action Forum for the zone. The Forum may now appoint an extra person representing the local community interests, and may also appoint a representative of the Local Education Authority's Joint Consultative Committee, a representative of the zone's schools' support staff and up to four representatives of teachers or of organisations representing teachers.
