The Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2000

  Made 14th April 2000 

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by section 89(2) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999[1], makes the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2000.

    
2. The following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 shall come into force on 1st December 2000: -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order provides for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 on 1st December 2000: - 

section 22 (which amends Part III of the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984);

section 85(3) and (4) (transitional provisions);

Schedule 3, with section 19 (which gives it effect);

Schedule 4, with section 21 (which gives it effect);

paragraphs 1 to 4 and 64 to 66 of Schedule 12, and section 84(1) (which gives effect to Schedule 12) so far as it relates to those paragraphs; and

the entries in Part II of Schedule 13 (repeals) in respect of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984 and sections 9(8) and 16 of the Family Law Act 1996, and section 88 (which gives effect to Schedule 13) so far as it relates to those entries.
