The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 27B(9) and (10) of Schedule 2 to the Immigration Act 1971[1], hereby makes the following Order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Passenger Information) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 28th April 2000. 2. - (1) Subject to paragraph (2), the information listed in the Schedule to this Order is specified for the purposes of paragraph 27B(9) of Schedule 2 to the Immigration Act 1971 (definition of "passenger information"). (2) The information listed in Part II of the Schedule to this Order is so specified only to the extent that it is known to the carrier. If the passenger has a United Kingdom visa or other form of United Kingdom entry clearance, its expiry date. Name as it appears on the passenger's reservation. Ticket number. Date and place of issue of the ticket. If not the carrier, the identity of the person who made the passenger's reservation on behalf of the carrier. Method of payment for the ticket. Travel itinerary. Names of all other passengers appearing on the passenger's reservation. If the passenger is travelling with a car or other vehicle, the vehicle registration number and, if the vehicle has a trailer, the trailer registration number (if different to the vehicle registration number). (This note is not part of the Order) This Order specifies certain information (relating to the passengers carried, or expected to be carried, by ships or aircraft) as passenger information for the purposes of paragraph 27B of Schedule 2 to the Immigration Act 1971 (as inserted by section 18 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999). Paragraph 27B allows immigration officers to require carriers to provide passenger information relating to those carried, or expected to be carried, by their ships or aircraft. Certain types of passenger information are specified only to the extent that they are known to a carrier. A carrier who fails, without reasonable excuse, to comply with the requirements of paragraph 27B commits an offence under section 27(b)(iv) of the 1971 Act (as inserted by paragraph 52 of Schedule 14 to the 1999 Act).
