EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Appointed Day) Order 1999

  Made 6th March 1999 

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 138(7) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 32 to, the School Standards and Framework Act 1988[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Appointed Day) Order 1999.

    (2) In this Order-

    "the 1998 Act" means the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

Appointed day
     2.  - (1) The appointed day for the purposes of paragraph 2(1) and (4) of Schedule 32 to the 1998 Act (GMS grants provisions) shall be 1st April 1999.

    (2) The appointed day for the purposes of paragraph 3 of Schedule 32 to the 1998 Act (loans made to governing bodies under section 255 of the 1996 Act) shall be 1st April 1999.

    (3) The appointed day for the purposes of paragraph 4(3) and (6) of Schedule 32 to the 1998 Act in relation to the payment of grant under regulation 2 of the Education (Schedule 32 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998) (England) Regulations 1999[
3] shall be 1st April 1999.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order appoints 1st April 1999 as the appointed day for certain provisions of Part I of Schedule 32 to the School Standards and Framework 1998.
