MERCHANT SHIPPING

The Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act 1997 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1997

  Made 19th June 1997 

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 31(3) of the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act 1997[1], hereby makes the following Order: - 

     1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act 1997 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1997.

    
2. The provisions of the Act specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the matters specified in the second column of that Schedule) shall come into force on 17th July 1997.

This Order brings into force on 17 July 1997 most of the provisions not yet in force of the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act 1997.



NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

     1. Sections 5, 8, 11, 12, 13, 16, 24, 28, 30 and 31, and Schedule 2 and paragraph 16 of Schedule 6 came into force on Royal Assent (19th March 1997)).

     2. The following provisions were brought into force on 23rd March 1997 by an earlier commencement order, S.I. No. 1997/1082 (C. 39):
