Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before the House of Commons in accordance with section 6(2) of the Government Trading Funds Act 1973[1] ("the 1973 Act") and approved by a resolution of that House; Now therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and 6(1) of the 1973 Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, having taken such steps as appear to him appropriate to give an opportunity to such persons as appear to him appropriate to make representations to him in accordance with section 1(3) of the 1973 Act and having, in accordance with section 6(4) of the 1973 Act, laid before Parliament a report about the representations received and his conclusions, and with the concurrence of the Treasury in accordance with section 1(2) of that Act, makes the following Order: - Citation and commencement 1 . This Order may be cited as the Medicines Control Agency Trading Fund (Variation) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997. Amendment of Schedule 1 to the Medicines Control Agency Trading Fund Order 1993 2 . In Schedule 1 to the Medicines Control Agency Trading Fund Order 1993[2] there shall be added after paragraph 2 the following paragraph:
Stephen Dorrell (This note is not part of the Order) This Order varies the Medicines Trading Fund Order 1993 by extending the operations for which the Medicines Control Agency Trading Fund is established to include those relating to good laboratory practice. These operations are carried out in connection with measurs relating to the control of laboratories carrying out tests on chemical products as provided for in Council Directive 87/18/EEC of 18th December 1986 and Council Directive 88/320/EEC of 9th June 1988 and as arising out of the United Kingdom's Membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Notes: [1] 1973 c.63; as amended by the Government Trading Act 1990 (c.30). The 1973 Act as amended is set out in Schedule 1 to the 1990 Act.
