ENTERPRISE ZONES

The East Midlands Enterprise Zones (Mansfield) (Designation) Order 1995

Made 29th August 1995
Laid before Parliament 1st September 1995
Coming into force 22nd September 1995

    Whereas the Mansfield District Council, acting pursuant to Schedule 32 to the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980[1] ("the Schedule"), on 9th June 1995 by resolution adopted the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 5 (Crown Farm) Scheme and the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 6 (Crown Farm) Scheme, and subsequently published an advertisement complying with paragraph 3 of the Schedule in the Mansfield Chad and the Nottingham Evening Post (newspapers circulating in the area to which the schemes relate) on 14th June 1995, and in the London Gazette on 15th June 1995;
    And whereas six weeks has expired since the first publication of those advertisements, and no application has been made to the High Court under paragraph 4 of the Schedule in respect of either scheme:
    Now therefore the Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 5 of the Schedule and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order—
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.    This Order may be cited as the East Midlands Enterprise Zones (Mansfield) (Designation) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 22nd September 1995.
        2.    In this order:
      "the Council" means the Mansfield District Council;

      "the map" means the map prepared in duplicate, marked "Map referred to in the East Midlands Enterprise Zones (Mansfield) (Designation) Order 1995", and signed by an Under Secretary in the Department of the Environment, one duplicate of which has been deposited and is available for inspection at the principal offices of the Council and the other at the offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment; and

      "the Zone areas" means the two areas—
         (i) the boundaries of which are represented by the outside edge of a black line edged internally with a stippled band on the map; and
         (ii) to which the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 5 (Crown Farm) Scheme and the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 6 (Crown Farm) Scheme respectively relate.

    Enterprise zones in Mansfield
        3.    The Zone areas are hereby designated as enterprise zones, and the Council is hereby designated as the enterprise zone authority for those zones.
    Period of designation
        4.    Designation under this Order shall take effect on 22nd September 1995, and the designated areas shall remain enterprise zones for a period of 10 years from that date.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This order designates as enterprise zones two areas which are located in the Crown Farm area of the district of Mansfield, and which have been the subject of two enterprise zone schemes adopted by the Mansfield District Council (the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 5 (Crown Farm) Scheme and the East Midlands Enterprise Zone No. 6 (Crown Farm) Scheme).
    The designation is effective for a period of 10 years.
    The location and areas of the enterprise zones are shown on the plan forming part of this note. The detailed map referred to in article 2 may be inspected at the principal offices of the Mansfield District Council, and at the offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment.
