UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

The Education (University Commissioners) Order 1995

Made 7th March 1995
Laid before Parliament 8th March 1995
Coming into force 31st March 1995

    In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3(2)(b) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988[1], the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 31st March 1995.
    Continuation of duties and powers
        2.    The University Commissioners' duties and powers shall continue for the period from 1st April 1995 until 1st April 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    The Order continues the University Commissioners' powers and duties until 1st April 1996. By virtue of paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988, their powers and duties would have ceased on 29th July 1991, but they were extended until 31st December 1992 by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/1427), extended until 1st January 1994 by the Education (University Commission- ers) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992/3064), extended by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/3056) until 1st Janaury 1995, and further extended by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/3106) until 1st April 1995.
