EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Education (Bursaries for Teacher Training) (Amendment) Regulations 1995

Made 6th March 1995
Laid before Parliament 8th March 1995
Coming into force 1st April 1995

    In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 50(1) and (3) and 63(3) and (4) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986[1], the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Bursaries for Teacher Training) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st April 1995.
        2.    Regulation 1(2) of the Education (Bursaries for Teacher Training) Regulations 1994[2] shall be amended by the addition, at the end of the definition of "course of initial teacher training", of the words "or which is at an institution accredited by the Teacher Training Agency or, in Wales, by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales under paragraph 2(2) of that Schedule".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Education (Bursaries for Teacher Training) Regulations 1994 so as to take into account amendments made to Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1993 (S.I. 1993/543; the relevant amending instrument is S.I. 1995/602).
    The definition of "course of initial teacher training" is amended so as to refer, in addition to such courses which are approved by the Secretary of State, to such courses at institutions which are accredited by the Teacher Training Agency or the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales.
    The Teacher Training Agency was established under section 1 of the Education Act 1994 (c. 30). The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales was established under section 62 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (c. 13).
