REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES, ETC.
ENGLAND AND WALES

The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 1994

Made 16th December 1994
Laid before Parliament 19th December 1994
Coming into force
  Articles 1 and 2 and (for some purposes) Article 4 1st February 1995
  the remainder 1st April 1995

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1) and (2) of, and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 to, the Public Expenditure and Receipts Act 1968[1] and now vested in her[2] and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement.
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 1994.

        (2)  The following provisions of this Order shall come into force on 1st February 1995—
       (a) Articles 1 and 2;
       (b) Article 4 for the purposes of revoking so much of the Order specified in it as relates to the fees payable under the enactments specified in column (1) of Part I of the Schedule to this Order.

        (3)  Except as provided by paragraph (2) of this Article, this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1995.
    Fees payable from 1st February 1995
        2.    The fee payable in England and Wales under an enactment specified in column (2) of Part I of the Schedule to this Order in respect of the matter specified in relation to it in column (3) shall be the fee specified in relation to it in column (4) and each of those enactments shall have effect accordingly.
    Fees payable from 1st April 1995
        3.    The fee payable in England and Wales under an enactment specified in column (2) of Part II of the Schedule to this Order in respect of the matter specified in relation to it in column (3) shall be the fee specified in relation to it in column (4) and each of those enactments shall have effect accordingly.
    Revocation of Order
        4.    The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order 1993[3] (under which the fees payable were as respectively set out in column (5) of the Schedule to this Order) is hereby revoked.

[1] 1968 c. 14; paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 was amended by section 116(1) and paragraph 21 of Schedule 9 to the Friendly Societies Act 1974 (c. 46), and by section 4 and paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to the Social Security (Consequential Provisions) Act 1992 (c. 6).By virtue of section 2(2) of the Marriage Act 1983 (c. 32) the reference to the Marriage Act 1949 (c. 76) in the said Schedule 3 includes a reference to that Act as amended by the 1983 Act. back
