ARMS AND AMMUNITION

The Firearms (Amendment) Rules 1994

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 27(2) and (3), 53(a) and 57(4) of the Firearms Act 1968^[1], I hereby make the following Rules:

    1.    These Rules may be cited as the Firearms (Amendment) Rules 1994 and shall come into force on 1st January 1995.

    2.    In the prescribed form of firearm certificate set out in Part II of Schedule 1 to the Firearms Rules 1989^[2] for the word "three", wherever it occurs, there shall be substituted the word "five".

    3.    These Rules shall apply only in respect of a firearm certificate granted or renewed after 1st January 1995.

These Rules amend the form of firearm certificate prescribed by the Firearms Rules 1989 (S.I. 1989/854) by substituting five years for three years in the references to the period for which the certificate is granted or renewed, as the case may be. This is a consequence of the period being so extended by the Firearms (Period of Certificate) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/2614), which comes into force on 1st January 1995.
