OVERSEAS DEVELOPMENT AND CO-OPERATION

The Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Enterprises) Order 1994

Laid before Parliament 11th November 1994
Coming into force 2nd December 1994

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3(3) and 3(4) of the Commonwealth Development Corporation Act 1978[1] ("the 1978 Act") and now vested in him[2], with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Enterprises) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 2nd December 1994.
        2.    There shall be added to the classes of enterprises to which the powers of the Commonwealth Development Corporation relate—

        (1)  enterprises for or concerned with:
       (a) marketing, retailing, merchanting, wholesaling, stockholding, cargo handling, storage and warehousing and packaging;
       (b) the provision or improvement of factories and industrial, commercial and retail premises;
       (c) the leasing of assets;
       (d) tourism and travel;
       (e) the supply of food or beverages.

        (2)  enterprises for or concerned with the provision of:
       (a) financial, management, management consultancy or consultancy services;
       (b) information technology services;
       (c) legal, accounting or business services;
       (d) research services;
       (e) design, architectural, engineering, technical or environmental services;
       (f) repair, maintenance or cleaning services;
       (g) media, entertainment or recreational services;
       (h) real estate services;
       (i) advertising or public relations services;
       (j) personnel services;
       (k) security services;
       (l) printing or photographic services;
       (m) subject to subsection 1 of section 4 of the 1978 Act, education and training services and medical, dental or veterinary services;
       (n) health and beauty services; and
       (o) funeral related services.

        3.    The following Orders are hereby revoked.
       (a) The Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Enterprises) Order 1987[3].
       (b) The Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Enterprises) (Variation) Order 1989[4].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order adds enterprises for marketing, retailing, cargo handling, storage and warehousing, packaging, travel, supplying food or beverages, and for the provision of certain specified services to the classes of enterprise to which the powers of the Corporation under the Commonwealth Development Corporation Acts 1978 to 1986, relate. It consolidates and revokes the Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Enterprises) Order 1987 and the Commonwealth Development Corporation (Additional Powers) (Variation) Order 1989.
