PROBATION

The Combined Probation Areas (Suffolk) Order 1993

Made 10th December 1993
Coming into force 1st January 1994

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 54(4) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 to, the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973[1], and after the consultation required by that paragraph, I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Combined Probation Areas (Suffolk) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st January 1994.
        2.    That part of Schedule 2 to the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986[2] which relates to the Suffolk Probation Area[3] shall be amended by—
       (a) omitting the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of Felixstowe, Mildenhall, Newmarket and Woodbridge;
       (b) inserting, in alphabetical order
         (i) in column 1 "Deben" and corresponding to this in column 3 "2";
         (ii) in column 1 "North West Suffolk" and corresponding to this in column 3 "2".
        3.    The two members of the Suffolk Probation Committee appointed before 1st January 1994 by the justices for the petty sessions areas of Felixstowe and Woodbridge shall continue to hold office as if they had been appointed by the justices for the new petty sessions area of Deben[4].
        4.    The two members of the Suffolk Probation Committee appointed before 1st January 1994 by the justices for the petty sessions areas of Mildenhall and Newmarket shall continue to hold office as if they had been appointed by the justices for the new petty sessions area of North West Suffolk[5].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986 to take account of the amalgamation of the petty sessions areas of Felixstowe and Woodbridge into the new petty sessions area of Deben and the amalgamation of the petty sessions areas of Mildenhall and Newmarket into the new petty sessions area of North West Suffolk both effected by the Petty Sessional Divisions (Suffolk) Order 1993 (S. I.1993/2880) which comes into force on 1st January 1994.
