The International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(1) and (2) of the Finance Act 1973^[1] and the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988^[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

    1.    These Regulations may be cited as the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 2nd January 1994.

    2.    The International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) Regulations 1988^[3] shall be amended in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations.

    3.    In the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the amounts specified in column 2 of the Table there shall be substituted the amounts specified in column 3 of the Table.

These Regulations amend the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) Regulations 1988 as follows.
(a) The fee for an inspection of a vehicle design-type in connection with the grant of TIR design-type approval is reduced from £68.40 to £64.60 where the inspection is of a design-type which is a variation of a design-type for which a TIR design-type approval has been granted and from £419.30 to £396.20 in any other case.

(b) The fee for the issue of a TIR vehicle approval certificate for a vehicle which is of a design-type for which TIR design-type approval has been granted is reduced from £6.00 to £5.70.The fee for the issue of a duplicate of such certificate is reduced from £6.00 to £5.70.

(c) The fee for an inspection of a vehicle in connection with the issue of a TIR vehicle approval certificate is reduced from £46.30 to £43.70 where the inspection is carried out following refusal of such a certificate for the vehicle and from £66.20 to £62.60 in any other case.
