The Highlands and Islands Rural Enterprise Programme (Revocation) Regulations 1993

Made 21st September 1993
Laid before Parliament 24th September 1993
Coming into force 15th October 1993

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[1] being a Minister designated for the purposes of that section in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Economic Community[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Highlands and Islands Rural Enterprise Programme (Revocation) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 15th October 1993.
    Revocation of the Highlands and Islands Rural Enterprise Programme Regulations 1991
        2.    After regulation 13 (false statements) of the Highlands and Islands Rural Enterprise Programme Regulations 1991[3], there shall be added the following regulation:-

        "Revocation and saving
            14.    These Regulations shall cease to have effect on 1st November 1993 except in relation to applications for financial assistance received by the Secretary of State before that date." .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    The Highlands and Islands Rural Enterprise Programme Regulations 1991 ("the principal Regulations"), implementing Council Regulation (EEC) No. 4256/88 (OJ No L374, 31.12.88, p.25) as read with Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2052/88 (OJ No L185, 15.7.88, p.9), Council Regulation (EEC) No. 4253/88 (OJ No L374, 31.12.88, p.1), Commission Decision dated 10th May 1989 (OJ No L198, 12.7.89, p.1) and Commission Decision dated 18th March 1991 provided for financial assistance to be given towards the cost of diversification measures, ancillary agricultural measures and environmental measures coming within a business de-velopment scheme operating in a selected location within the area of the former Highlands and Islands Development Board.
    These Regulations revoke the principal Regulations with effect from 31st October 1993 except in relation to applications for financial assistance received on or before that date.
