The Dartford-Thurrock Crossing (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Laid before Parliament 10th August 1993
Coming into force 1st September 1993

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 25(1) and (2), 26(1) and (3)(d), 44(3) and 46(1)[1] of the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing (Amend-ment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st September 1993.
        2.    The Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Regulations 1989[3] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
        3.    In regulation 5(1) in the table there set out in the third column headed "Charge"-
       (a) for "£34" wherever it occurs there shall be substituted "£35"; and
       (b) for "£157" wherever it occurs there shall be substituted "£160".
        4.    In regulation 6(1) for "6th edition issued in 1991" there shall be substituted "7th edition issued in 1993"[4].
        5.    In regulation 12(1) in the table there set out-
       (a) in column (1) headed "Minimum Charge"-
         (i) for "£48" there shall be substituted "£49", and
         (ii) for "£96" there shall be substituted "£98";
       (b) in column (2) headed "Additional Charge" for "£31" there shall be substituted "£32".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations further amend the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Regulations 1989 ("the 1989 Regulations")-
    by increasing some of the charges to be made under regulation 5 of the 1989 Regulations in respect of vehicles above a specified width or length or weight which use the crossing (regulation 3);
    by providing that regulation 6 of the 1989 Regulations refers to the seventh, and latest, edition of the booklet entitled "Dangerous Traffic" (regulation 4); and
    by increasing some of the charges used to calculate the fee payable under regulation 12 of the 1989 Regulations in respect of the attendance at or the removal of a vehicle which has broken down on the crossing (regulation 5).
