NORTHERN IRELAND

The Appropriation (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 1993

Made 20th July 1993
Coming into Operation 20th July 1993

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 20th day of July 1993

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act[1] 1974 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
    Title and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Appropriation (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 and shall come into operation forthwith.
    Interpretation
        2.    The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland)[2] 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
    Issue of sum out of the Consolidated Fund for year ending 31st March 1994
        3.    The Department of Finance and Personnel may issue out of the Consolidated Fund and apply towards making good the supply granted to Her Majesty for the service of the year ending on 31st March 1994 the sum of three thousand, one hundred and sixteen million, four hundred and ninety-five thousand pounds.
    Power for Department of Finance and Personnel to borrow
        4.—(1)  Subject to paragraph (2), the Department of Finance and Personnel may borrow on the credit of the aforesaid sum, any sum or sums not exceeding in the whole one thousand, five hundred and fifty-eight million pounds.

        (2)  Any money so borrowed shall be repaid, with any interest due thereon, out of the Consolidated Fund at any date not later than 31st March 1994.
    Appropriation of grants
        5.—(1)  The sum granted by Article 3 out of the Consolidated Fund is appropriated for the several services and purposes specified in the Schedule.

        (2)  In addition to the sum granted by Article 3 out of the Consolidated Fund, there may be applied as appropriations in aid of the grants for the several services and purposes specified in the Schedule, the sums respectively specified in the third column.
