CUSTOMS AND EXCISE

The Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 2) Order 1993

Made 2nd July 1993
Coming into force 24th July 1993

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred by section 1 of the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act 1939[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 2) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 24th July 1993.
        2.    The Export of Goods (Control) Order 1992[3] shall be further amended as follows:—
      in Group 3 of Part III of Schedule 1:
         (a) at the end of entry 1C351 there shall be inserted—
          "except:

            Isolated live cultures of a. to d. above in the form of vaccines[4]" ;
         (b) at the end of entry 1C352 there shall be inserted—
          "except:

            Isolated live cultures of a. or b. above in the form of vaccines" ;
         (c) entry 1C990 shall be deleted;
         (d) after entry 1C991 there shall be inserted the following entry—
          "1C992 Isolated live cultures in the form of vaccines as follows:
            a. Bacillus anthracis
            b. Botulinum toxin." ;
         (e) in entry 7A101 there shall be added at the end ", and specially designed components therefor";
         (f) in entry 7A102 there shall be added at the end ", and specially designed components therefor";
         (g) in entry 9A105 for "1.1 MNs" there shall be substituted "0.841 MNs";
         (h) after entry 9A106 there shall be inserted the following entry—
          "9A107 Solid propellant rocket engines, usable in missiles, other than those specified in entry 9A007, having a total impulse capacity of 0.841 MNs or greater[5]" ;
         (i) in entry 9A119 after "9A105" there shall be inserted ", 9A107";
         (j) in entry 9B115 for ", 9A105, 9A106, 9A108, 9A109," there shall be substituted ", 9A 105 to 9A109,";
         (k) in entry 9B116 for ", 9A104 to 9A106, 9A108, 9A109" there shall be substituted ", 9A104 to 9A109";
         (l) in entry 9E101 for ", 9A104 to 9A106, 9A108 to 9A111" there shall be substituted ", 9A104 to 9A111";
         (m) in entry 9E102:
           (aa) for ", 9A104 to 9A106, 9A108 to 9A111," there shall be substituted ", 9A104 to 9A111,";
           (bb) for ", 9B115, 9B116, 9B117," there shall be substituted ", 9B115 to 9B117,".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1992:
      (i) by removing most vaccines from control;
      (ii) by removing fluorine from control;
      (iii) by extending the control on certain accelerometers designed for use in inertial navigation systems or in guidance systems to include specially designed components;
      (iv) by extending the control on certain gyros usable in missiles to include specially designed components;
      (v) by extending the control on certain solid and liquid fuelled rocket engines and rocket stages including specially designed production equipment, production facilities and technology required for their development, production or use.
