IMMIGRATION

The Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 1993

Made 2nd July 1993
Laid before Parliament 21st July 1993
Coming into force 22nd July 1993

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 1A(1) and (2) of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987[1], I hereby make the following order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 22nd July 1993.
        2.    A national or citizen of one or more of the countries or territories specified in the Schedule to this Order who on arrival in the United Kingdom passes through to another country or territory without entering the United Kingdom shall hold a visa for that purpose (a transit visa) unless he:
       (a) has the right of abode in the United Kingdom under the Immigration Act 1971[2]; or
       (b) is also a national of a member State of the European Communities.
        3.    An application for a transit visa shall be made to any British High Commission, Embassy or Consulate which accepts such applications.
