LEGAL AID AND ADVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 7) Order 1991

Made 28th November 1991

    The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 69(2) of the Administration of Justice Act 1985[1], hereby makes the following Order-
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 7) Order 1991.
        2.    Sections 9 and 10 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 shall come into force on 1st January 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force sections 9 and 10 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (incorporated practices). Section 9 allows the Council of the Law Society to make rules regulating the carrying on of a solicitor's practice through bodies corporate, brings into force the provisions of Schedule 2 to the Act ("Incorporated Practices: Supplemental Provisions") and empowers the Lord Chancellor to apply provisions relating to Solicitors to such bodies corporate (with or without modification). Section 10 establishes an offence of pretending to be a body recognised under section 9.
