CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 7 and No. 10) Orders 1991 Revocation Order 1991

Laid before Parliament 16th September 1991
Coming into force in accordance with article 1

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and (2) and 24(1) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985([1]), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 7 and No. 10) Orders 1991 Revocation Order 1991 and shall come into force at 10.00 hours on 13th September 1991.
    Revocations
        2.    The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 7) Order 1991([2]) and the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 10) Order 1991([3]) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order revokes the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 7) Order 1991 ("No. 7 Order") and the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (No. 10) Order 1991 ("No. 10 Order") which imposed prohibitions on the fishing for or taking of (article 4), the movement of (article 5) and the landing of or use in the production of food (article 6) of bivalve molluscs within the area designated in the Schedule respective to each Order. These areas are-
      (a) the area of the sea surrounding the North Isles of Orkney apart from the areas of sea surrounding North Ronaldsay, the northern part of the Island of Sanday and the western part of the Island Rousay (No. 7 Order); and
      (b) the area of sea within Scapa Flow (No. 10 Order).

    The effect of this Order is to remove completely the prohibition on fishing for, or taking of, landing of, or the use in food production of, bivalve molluscs from those areas.
