DOGS

The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (Commencement and Appointed Day) Order 1991

Made 25th July 1991

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 1(3) and 10(4) of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991[1], I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    -

        (1)  This Order may be cited as the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (Commencement and Appointed Day) Order 1991.

        (2)  In this Order "the Act" means the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
        2.    The day appointed for the purposes of section 1(3) of the Act shall be 30th November 1991.
        3.    The provisions of the Act, so far as not already in force, shall come into force on 12th August 1991.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force on 12th August 1991 the provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 except section 8 thereof (Power to make corresponding provision for Northern Ireland) which came into force on Royal Assent. The Order also makes 30th November 1991 the appointed day for the purposes of section 1of the Act that is the day after which, subject to exceptions, possession or custody of a dog to which section 1 applies is prohibited.
