ROAD TRAFFIC

The Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 1990

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 45(2) and (7) and 46 of the Road Traffic Act 1988[1] and by the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988[2] and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 2nd July 1990.
        2.    The Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981[3] are hereby amended so that in the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the amounts specified in column 2 of the Table there are substituted the amounts specified in column 3 of the Table.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations further amendthe Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981 ("the principal Regulations") as follows.
      (a) The fee payable for the examination of a motor bicycle not having a sidecar attached to it is increased from £8.56 to £9.30.
      (b) The fee payable for the examination of any other vehicle (not being a Class VI vehicle) is increased from £14.26 to £15.50. Class VI vehicles are public service vehicles other than those of a type specified in regulation 5(3) of the principal Regulations.
      (c) The fee payable for the issue of a duplicate test certificate for vehicles (other than Class VI vehicles) is increased—
        (i) from £4.28 to £4.65 in the case of a motor bicycle not having a sidecar attached to it; and
        (ii) from £7.13 to £7.75 in any other case.
