ROAD TRAFFIC

The A13 Trunk Road (East India Dock Road, Tower Hamlets) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1988

Made 17th March 1988
Coming into force 20th March 1988

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1] , and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Secretary of State for the Home Department, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the A13 Trunk Road (East India Dock Road, Tower Hamlets) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 20th March 1988.
        2.    In the Order—

    "East India Dock Road" means that length of the London to Tilbury Trunk Road (A13) in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets known as East India Dock Road;

    "central reservation" means that part of East India Dock Road which separates the two carriageways of East India Dock Road for the safety or guidance of vehicles using that road; and

    "the restricted length" means that length of East India Dock Road between the eastern end of the existing central reservation, being a point 7 metres east of the eastern kerbline of Brunswick Road, and the southwestern kerbline of Abbott Road.
        3.    Save as provided in article 5 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding eastwards or westwards in East India Dock Road to enter or proceed through the gap in the central reservation which lies opposite the junction of Brunswick Road with East India Dock Road.
        4.    Save as provided in article 5 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in the eastbound carriageway of the restricted lengths to make a U-turn so as to proceed in the opposite direction to that in which it was proceeding.
        5.    Nothing in articles 3 and 4 above shall apply—
       (a) to any vehicle being used for fire brigade, police or ambulance purposes; and
       (b) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
