Coming into operation

The Department for Infrastructure1 makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 59(1) of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 19962 and now vested in it3.

In accordance with Article 91(1) of that Order the Department has consulted with such representative organisations as it thinks fit.

Citation and commencementI11

This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2023 and shall come into operation on 15th May 2023.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends Schedule 1 to the Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007 by inserting an amount of £100 for the fixed penalty prescribed for the offence under Article 12 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.

The new fixed penalty relates to the offence of driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place.
