1. This Order may be cited as the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) (2016 Act) (Commencement No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 2022.
2. 1st April 2022 is the appointed day for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2016–
(a)section 15 (duty to promote transplantation);
(b)section 16 (annual report on transplantation).

This Commencement Order is made by the Department of Health under section 20(3) of the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (“the Act”).
It brings into operation the following provisions of the Act on 1st April 2022.
Section 15 – requires the Department to promote transplantation, and provide information and increase awareness about transplantation and the donation for transplantation of parts of the human body. This includes in particular a duty to promote a campaign informing the public at least once a year.
Section 16 – requires the Department to lay before the Assembly, in respect of each financial year, a report about transplantation in that year. The report must include the steps taken by the Department to fulfil the duties set out in section 15, and the number and nature of transplantations carried out. At least once every five financial years, the report must include the opinion of the Department as to whether the Act has been effective in promoting transplantation, and any recommendations the Department considers appropriate for amending the law so as to promote transplantation.
