Citation
1. This Order may be cited as the Rural Needs (2016 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2017.
Appointed day
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of sections 1 to 4 of the Rural Needs Act (Northern Ireland) 2016, as they apply to Northern Ireland departments and district councils as listed in the Schedule to that Act, is 1st June 2017.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation, for Northern Ireland departments and district councils only, sections 1 to 4 of the Rural Needs Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was renamed the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs by section 1(2) of the Departments Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (c.5) (N.I.).
