Subject to paragraph (2), within the territorial sea these Regulations shall apply only to or in relation to the premises and activities to which any of paragraphs 2 to 9 of Schedule 10 applies.

For the purposes of paragraph (1), in any case where it is not reasonably practicable for an employer to comply with the requirements of these Regulations in so far as they relate to functions being performed by a relevant doctor or by an approved dosimetry service, it is sufficient compliance with any such requirements if the employer makes arrangements affording an equivalent standard of protection for its employees and those arrangements are set out in local rules.
