The Seed Marketing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017

In accordance with section 1(1) of the Seeds Act (Northern Ireland) 1965, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has consulted with representatives of such interests as appear to it to be concerned.

Title, application and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Seed Marketing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017; they apply in Northern Ireland and come into operation on 11 December 2017.

The Seed Marketing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016

2.  In the table in Schedule 1 to the Seed Marketing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 (seed to which the Regulations apply)(2), in the first column, for “Lolium x boucheanum Kunth”, substitute “Lolium x hybridum Hausskn”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Seed Marketing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 (S.R.2016 No. 244).

Regulation 2 implements Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2109 amending Council Directive 66/401/EEC as regards the inclusion of new species and the botanical name of the species Lolium x boucheanum Kunth (OJ No L 327, 2.12.2016, p.59) by amending the botanical name of the fodder grass hybrid ryegrass in the Seed Marketing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016.
