Subject to regulation 27, where the person or the caree are temporarily absent from Northern Ireland, they are treated as present in Northern Ireland for the purpose of these Regulations for the first 4 weeks of absence.

The person or the caree are temporarily absent from Northern Ireland if, at the beginning of the period of absence, their absence is unlikely to exceed 52 weeks.
