Statutory Rules of Northern Ireland

The Attorney General:
(a)has, in pursuance of section 8(1) of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2004, issued guidance on human rights standards relevant to the protection of the right to life in respect of the Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland, the Probation Board for Northern Ireland, the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, the Department of Justice (functions of the Department mentioned in section 69(1) of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978(1) and functions of the Department(2) exercised by the Northern Ireland Prison Service, the Youth Justice Agency, Forensic Science Northern Ireland, the State Pathologist’s Department and the Compensation Agency);
(b)has, in accordance with section 8(3)(a) of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2004, published that guidance on his website;
(c)has, in accordance with section 8(3)(b) of that Act, laid that guidance before the Northern Ireland Assembly(3);
(d)has, in accordance with section 8(1A) and section 8(5A) of that Act, consulted the Advocate General for Northern Ireland(4).
The Attorney General, in exercise of powers conferred by section 8(3)(c) of that Act, makes the following Order:
1978 c.23. There are relevant amendments in paragraph 5(2) of the Schedule to S.R. 2010/133.
‘Department of Justice’ substituted for ‘Northern Ireland Office’ by paragraph 81(4)(a) of Schedule 14 to the Northern Ireland Act (Devolution of Policing and Functions) Order 2010 (S.I. 2010/976).
‘The Northern Ireland Assembly’ substituted for ‘each House of Parliament’ by paragraph 81(2) of Schedule 14 to the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Devolution of Policing and Justice Functions) Order 2010 (S.I. 2010/976).
Inserted by section 8(9) of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2004 and paragraph 7A of Schedule 7 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002.
