PART 4MOVEMENTS

Movement of pigs

14.—(1) A person transporting pigs off a holding shall carry a movement document signed by the keeper which specifies—

(a)the name, address and the holding code of the holding of departure;

(b)the name, address and the holding code of the holding of destination;

(c)the date of the movement;

(d)the number of pigs that the document covers;

(e)the most recently applied identification mark of each pig being moved; and

(f)in the case of a movement from a market, the lot numbers of the pigs being moved.

(2) The movement document shall be given to the keeper of the holding of destination, who shall—

(a)complete it with their name, address, holding code, their signature and date of arrival of the pig on the holding of destination; and

(b)keep it for a period of 3 years with the holding register.

(3) In the case of a pig moved onto a holding from a place outside Northern Ireland the keeper shall, within 7 days of the pig arriving on that holding, send a copy of the movement document to the Divisional Veterinary Office.

(4) The keeper of the holding of departure shall —

(a)send a copy of the movement document to the Divisional Veterinary Office within 7 days of the pigs leaving the holding, except in the case of a movement to a market, slaughterhouse or show; and

(b)keep a copy of the movement document for a period of 3 years with the holding register.

(5) In the case of a movement to or from a market, a slaughterhouse or a show, the operator shall send a copy of the movement document to the Divisional Veterinary Office on the day of the movement to which it relates, or where this is not practicable on the next working day.

(6) Where the Department has authorised a person to notify the movement of a pig by means of electronic communication, that person may electronically transmit the information required under paragraphs (4)(a) and (5) to the centralised computer database, within the time periods specified in those paragraphs.

(7) The centralised computer database means the database operated by the Department for the purposes of Article 3 of the Directive.
