Amendment of the Social Security (Industrial Injuries) (Prescribed Diseases) Regulations

2.  In Part I of Schedule 1 to the Social Security (Industrial Injuries) (Prescribed Diseases) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1986(1) (list of prescribed diseases and the occupations for which they are prescribed)—

(a)for the entry relating to prescribed disease A4(2) substitute—

A4.Task-specific focal dystonia of the hand or forearm.Prolonged periods of handwriting, typing or other repetitive movements of the fingers, hand or arm..

(b)in the second column of the entry relating to prescribed disease A14(3) add—

Work wholly or mainly fitting or laying carpets or floors (other than concrete floors) for a period of, or periods which amount in aggregate to, 20 years or more..

(c)for the entry relating to prescribed disease C3 substitute—

C3.(a)Phossy Jaw.Work involving the use or handling of, or exposure to, white phosphorous.
C3.(b)Peripheral polyneuropathy or peripheral polyneuropathy with pyramidal involvement of the central nervous system, caused by organic compounds of phosphorous which inhibit the enzyme neuropathy target esterase.Work involving the use or handling of, or exposure to, organic compounds of phosphorous..
