The Department for Regional Development(1) in accordance with Article 15(1) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993(2) considers it expedient that the roads proposed to be constructed and described in the Schedule should be designated as special roads.
The Department in accordance with Article 14(1) of that Order considers it expedient for the purpose of improving the trunk system that the roads described in the Schedule should be designated as trunk roads.
Notice has been published and served in compliance with paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 8 to that Order.
One letter of objection was received and the Department considered the objection.
The Department makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 14(1), 15(1) and 16(1) and (2) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 and now exercisable by it(3):
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as The M1/Trunk Road T3 (Motorway Service Area) Order (Northern Ireland) 2011 and shall come into operation on 5th December 2011.
(2) In this Order “the map” means the drawing numbered 1BH0024/2018 Rev E, marked “The M1/Trunk Road T3 (Motorway Service Area) Order (Northern Ireland) 2011” copies of which have been deposited at the Department’s Roads Service offices, Headquarters, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8GB and Eastern Division, Hydebank, 4 Hospital Road, Belfast BT8 8JL.
2. The Department designates and directs that the roads described in the Schedule shall become special and trunk roads and be part of the Belfast-Ballygawley-Londonderry Land Frontier Trunk Road T3.
3. The roads described in the Schedule shall be used only by traffic of Classes I and II as set out in Schedule 1 to the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993.

439 metres of new slip roads in the townlands of Tullynacross and Ballyskeagh and County of Down consisting of:
(a)99 metres of slip road adjacent to the Belfast bound carriageway of the M1 motorway extending in a generally north-easterly direction from a point on the M1 718 metres north-east of the centre point of Tullynacross Bridge, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked S1 on the map;
(b)144 metres of slip road adjacent to the Belfast bound carriageway of the M1 motorway extending in a generally north-easterly direction from a point on the M1 966 metres north-east of the centre point of Tullynacross Bridge, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked S2 on the map;
(c)161 metres of slip road adjacent to the Dungannon bound carriageway of the M1 motorway extending in a generally south-westerly direction from a point on the M1 700 metres north-east of the centre point of Tullynacross Bridge, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked S3 on the map; and
(d)35 metres of slip road adjacent to the Dungannon bound carriageway of the M1 motorway extending in a generally south-westerly direction from a point on the M1 1010 metres north-east of the centre point of Tullynacross Bridge, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked S4 on the map.
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that 439 metres of new slip roads described in the Schedule and more particularly delineated and coloured red on the map shall be special roads subject to motorway traffic restrictions and be part of the Belfast-Ballygawley-Londonderry-Land Frontier Trunk Road T3.
