Citation and commencement
1. These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2008.
By-Laws amended
2. For by-law 26(1) of the By-Laws relating to Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951(1) there shall be substituted—
“26.—(1) The fares payable for the hire of a Motor Hackney Carriage within the prescribed limits shall be—
(a)where not more than 4 passengers are carried—

In assessing additional fares, every child under the age of 6 years and/or one child over 6 years and under 12 years shall be disregarded. Two children between the ages of 6 years and 12 years shall be counted as one passenger.”.
Revocation
3. By-law 2(4) of the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2006(2) and the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment No. 2) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2006(3) are revoked.
