The hearing of the case may be remitted by the presiding officer to a police officer or member of a police force in Great Britain of equivalent rank who, at the presiding officer’s request, has agreed to act as the presiding officer in the matter, if, either before or during the hearing, the presiding officer considers remission appropriate.

The hearing of the case shall be so remitted, if the presiding officer is an interested party otherwise than in his capacity as presiding officer.
