To be laid before Parliament under paragraph 7(3) of the Schedule to the Northern Ireland Act 2000
The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 31(2) and (6)(1) of the Rates (Northern Ireland) Order 1977(2), makes the following Order.
In accordance with Article 31(6) of that Order it has consulted the Sports Council for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (being an Association which appears to the Department to be representative of district councils):
1. This Order may be cited as the Rates (Recreational Hereditaments) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2007.
2. Recreations of the kinds set out in the Schedule (being recreations which in the opinion of the Department of Finance and Personnel demand an appreciable degree of physical effort) are specified for the purposes of Article 31 of the Rates (Northern Ireland) Order 1977.
3.—(1) The Rates (Recreational Hereditaments) Order (Northern Ireland) 1976(3) is revoked.
(2) The Rates (Recreational Hereditaments) Order (Northern Ireland) 1979(4) is revoked.

This Order specifies the kinds of recreation which qualify certain hereditaments for rate relief under Article 31 of the Rates (Northern Ireland) Order 1977.
It revokes the Rates (Recreational Hereditaments) Order (Northern Ireland) 1976 and the Rates (Recreational Hereditaments) Order (Northern Ireland) 1979.
Article 31 was substituted by Article 3(1) of the Rates Amendment (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 (S.I. 1979/297 (N.I. 4))
