The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 55(1), (2) and (6) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 19951:

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment and Use) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 13th April 2006.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 19952

In regulation 29(2) (length) of the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 19952 for “4.73” there shall be substituted “5”.

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 so as to increase the maximum length of a taxi, which is licensed for public hire in the City of Belfast, from 4.73 metres to 5 metres.
