1. These Regulations may be cited as the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Waste Management Licensing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 5th January 2007.
2.—(1) In these Regulations—
(a)“the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive” or “WEEE Directive” means Council Directive 2002/96/EC(1) on waste electrical and electronic equipment as amended by Council Directive 2003/108/EC(2);
(b)“the 2003 Regulations” means the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003(3);
(c)“the 1997 Order” means the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997(4).
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(5) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
3. The 2003 Regulations shall have effect subject to the amendments in Schedule 1.
4. The transitional provisions of Schedule 2 shall have effect.
