The Department for Social Development makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 122(1)(d), 132A(3) and 171(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992(1) and now vested in it(2).

These Regulations are made with the consent of the Department of Finance and Personnel(3).

The Social Security Advisory Committee has agreed that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it(4).

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Benefit (Consequential Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 19th November 2006.

(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(5) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

Amendment of the Housing Benefit (Consequential Provisions) Regulations

2.  In Schedule 1 to the Housing Benefit (Consequential Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006(6) in column (3) of the entry relating to the Social Security (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(7) for “(9)(a)” substitute “(9)(b)”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Housing Benefit (Consequential Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 which make provision in connection with the consolidation of regulations relating to housing benefit.

Regulation 2 corrects an error in Schedule 1 to those Regulations (revocations).
