Coming into operation

In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 4(1) of the Audit (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 (1), I make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Salaries (Comptroller and Auditor General) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 21st August 2006.
2. The Salaries (Comptroller and Auditor General) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005 (2) is revoked.
3. The annual salary payable to the holder of the office of Comptroller and Auditor General shall be increased as follows —
(a)from £126,108 to £127,369 with effect from 1st April 2006,
(b)from £127,369 to £130,219 with effect from 1st November 2006

This Order provides for an increase in the annual salary payable to the Comptroller and Auditor General following recommendations made in the Report of the Review Body on Senior Salaries in 2006 (HMSO CM 6727).
The increase, which is to be staged, is made with effect from 1st April 2006 and 1st November 2006 under Article 4(1) of the Audit (Northern Ireland) Order 1987.
Article 2 revokes the Salaries (Comptroller and Auditor General) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006 SR 489/05, which took effect from 1st April 2005.
S.I. 1987/460 (N.I. 5); Article 4(1) is modified by paragraph 11(3) of the Schedule to the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (c. 1) while section 1 (suspension of devolved government) of that Act is in force.
