The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety(1), in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 5 and 11 of the Primary Medical Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2004(2) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No.2) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005 and shall come into operation on 25th August 2005.

Amendment of Article 85 of the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) 2004

2.  In Article 85 of the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004(3) (details to be included on prescription forms etc.), in paragraph (1), for “31st March 2005” substitute “31st March 2006”.

Amendment of Article 88 of the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004

3.  In Article 88 of the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 (meaning of suitable experience) for “Until the coming into force of Article 5” substitute “Until either the establishment of the General Practitioner Register pursuant to Article 10(1) of the 2003 Order or the coming into force of paragraphs 21 and 22 of Schedule 8 to that Order, whichever occurs first,”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the General Medical Services Transitional and Consequential Provisions (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 to:

(a)extend for a further year the period for which prescription forms (including repeatable prescription forms and batch issues – when the appropriate regulations have been introduced need not include the name of the contractor as required by various Regulations relating to primary medical services; and

(b)correct a cross-referncing error in Article of 88 of that Order
